First Junior Excel Club in the Nation!
On Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 4:00,
the first Junior Excel Club in the nation had its Permanent Organizational Meeting (POM) at the school. The students had been meeting throughout the school year getting organized and performing several community
service projects. The Club will be known as the Eaton Exchange Junior Excel Club. There are seventeen charter members with two more possible charter members that need
to submit their membership cards. The POM began with a formal program that was
led by Bob Moore. Bob is a Volunteer Field Representative (VFR) for the National
Exchange Club. Participating in the program was Margaret Moore, the Division
6 Director for the Colonial District who inducted the charter members. William
“Bill” Trimble, Colonial District President Elect and the Junior Excel club builder installed the officers and
presented each charter member with their pin and a certificate. Among the guests
present were seven parents, the school principal Dr. Kenneth Crum, and six members of the Exchange Club of Wythe, which was
the sponsoring club. Exchange Club of Wythe President Chuck Elinsky made some
welcoming comments and Dr. Crum thanked the Wythe Club for its support and encouragement in sponsoring the club. At the conclusion of the program, refreshments were served, including a cake decorated with a congratulatory
message.
